Peaceful village situated about 45 minutes North West of Lisbon, and just after Ericeira, it can be reached either via the A8 and A21, or, for a more “picturesque” drive, then go through the IC19, to Sintra and then follow the signs to “Praias” N247. Typical Portuguese and unspoiled village, where we can still enjoy the atmosphere of the rural ways, with its two “windmills” typical of the region as to the local farms and in fact the “potato field” in the middle of the village. Barril is a quite village and offers bank facility, Medical service as to local shops; Supermarket, Restaurants, cafes/snack bar and a Patisserie. The village main industry is the “Bread Factories” around 19 in total, which serves a vast area of the region including Lisbon. This is a great base for visiting the surrounding area, which offers places of historical interest, fabulous coast line, for surfing, sunbathing, swimming or just soaking up the rays.
